I've got a sample site coming together to explain what you're asked to do in Project 3. Check it out. Also check out the Zip file of materials that went into its making--lots of code, organization, and other ideas here (though certainly not squeaky-clean perfection).
Thurs. 11/11/04
As promised, I have put together a description for Project 4. Check it out. If you have a different angle/approach you'd like to take for Project 4, email me so we can work out the details.
Either way, I would like your proposal memo by Tuesday; the sooner you get it to me, the sooner I can give you comments and send you on your way to finishing the project, which will be due on the Monday of Finals Week.
In the next 24 hours, I'll be updating the calendar for the rest of the semester & give you the opportunity to sign up for a conference with me either late next week or early the week of Thanksgiving.
Tues. 10/26/04
Project three is up. Check it out.
Tues. 10/12/04
I've made some significant changes to the calendar. Check them out, and if you're coming to this page without having checked your @purdue.edu email account, be sure to do that, too. Changes are also reflected on the Project 2 description page.
Tues. 09/28/04
Project 2 is now up (I toyed with it all weekend). I've also made changes to the calendar up through the week after Fall Break.
Mon. 09/20/04
The Yays have it...we now have a fully functional class blog. A big thank-you to everyone who threw their US $.02 at me on this issue!
You should have received an invite from me--if not, please let me know immediately. I'll work to outline a policy in the next few days (after we discuss it in class) as to how the blog will count in terms of grading and replacing your beloved Reading Responses.
Also, our very own Kara Choate submitted the following links for our viewing pleasure: http://www.amanitadesign.com/ and this other one, which Kara describes as a site for "an off beat rock opera hippie band that is pretty revolutionary."
OK...I'm drinking coffee now so I can go get the Star Wars Trilogy DVDs at midnight :-D
Sun. 09/19/04
Here's another great link, this one submitted by our very own Mr. Bingham--it's a project out of Carnegie Mellon University called Kinetic Typography. Well worth checking out (it requires the QuickTime player).
Also, I have made some changes to the course calendar. Be sure to check those out, too.
Weds. 09/15/04
Our very own Tim Butler shared this link with me: Young Hae-Chang Heavy Industries (http://www.yhchang.com). Some of the stuff may be a little political or what not for your tastes, but I invite you to think about the impact of such a simple use of Flash.
Weds. 09/01/04
I've again updated the Project 1 description to include descriptions of some of the less-obvious deliverables.
Tues. 08/31/04
I have updated/corrected the description for Project 1. I've decided that you will be limited to one bitmapped image for this assignment; I'll explain why in class today.
Tues. 08/24/04
Welcome to the Website for English 419: Multimedia Writing. This page will have news, announcements, corrections, etc. regarding the work of the class. Today, be sure to look at the course policies and course calendar.
